Dewa Phuket Beach Cleaning

Now that we are more settled, we have decided to start doing our bit for Naiyang beach and the Sirinath National Park, which is just in front of our resort. A month or so ago, we started our recycling project and it is good to note that our homeowners and guests are cooperating nicely with separating their bottles, plastics, wet garbage and paper. Twice a week, from around 6.30am, you will find some of our staff (all volunteers from the various departments) picking up all the bits and pieces of rubbish on the beach as well as the park itself. And if you are around Dewa Phuket on the 31st March, evening time 5pm, you are more than welcome to join our Monthly All Staff Beach Cleanup, which will be followed by a Staff BBQ with food and drinks purchased from the money received from the sales of our recycled items.

A while back we did an article on diving in the Andaman, but fail to mention that if you were not a diver you could still enjoy the beauty of the underwater world with your family. There are a number of very interesting day trips which will take you to small uncrowned islands not to far from Dewa Phuket.

Kho Racha Yai and Koh Racha Noi are the perfect example for a perfect day out in the sea visiting the fishes’ world. After a quick pickup at Dewa Phuket, you will travel in a comfortable minivan to the Chalong Pier from which you will take a speedboat. Onboard they provide soft drinks, water, fresh fruits and cold towels while traveling to the Coral Island, a small tourist spot where you can do a bit of snorkeling. This is not the highlight of the trip but part of the journey to the amazing Kho Racha Yai island.

After a short 1 hour stop at Coral Island, the speedboat will travel about 20-25 minutes to Koh Racha and stop in a small creek where you can swim and snorkel in crystal clear water with 5-6 meters visibility and amongst a myriad of colorful fishes. I recommend grabbing some pieces of fruit from the boat which you can hand feed to a frenzy of tropical fish. Don’t miss this experience, your kids will love it and the fish will be thankful for giving them some fresh watermelon.

After one hour swimming in the creek, the boat will take you to the main white sand beach of Batok Bay where you will join the group to a very nice buffet lunch and enjoy some time off to walk about the island of Koh Racha. The island is very small and it is easy to walk from one bay to another. The boat leaves the island at 3:00pm from Batok Bay and travels back to Phuket Chalong Pier to meet back with your minivan. The trips from Koh Racha to Chalong will take about 30 minutes.
